Rotary kiln girth gear and pinion are key transmission components for cement rotary kilns. The girth gear is mounted on the kiln shell, while the pinion meshes with it to transmit torque and drive the kiln cylinder to rotate at a controlled speed.
This meshing system ensures stable power transmission, reduces impact loads, and supports reliable operation during long-term kiln operation. Proper gear clearance, tooth profile accuracy and surface hardness are critical for service life.
Girth gear is normally made of high strength cast steel such as ZG42CrMo, ZG35CrMo or equivalent material, usually designed as a two-piece or split structure for easy installation and maintenance. Pinion can be manufactured from cast steel or forged steel; forged steel pinion is recommended for higher toughness, better fatigue resistance and longer service life.
Both components are produced through precision casting, heat treatment, gear machining and finish inspection. Tooth profile, pitch circle diameter, runout and surface hardness are strictly controlled according to customer drawings and technical requirements.
